Wake Up Wednesday - Rocket Fuel - Week 4

by James & Amy Lombardi

After covering strengths and weaknesses of both visionaries and integrators it is easy to see the vital role that a strong relationship plays. Through a firm relationship, it creates the potential to get exactly what you want out of your business. The personalities and behavior of both need to work in sync with one another which leads to the Rocket Fuel to achieve that growth.

There is not a single job description for each position. It is a puzzle piece that connects together to be stronger. The visionary is setting forth the future and direction but it is the job of the integrator to hold them accountable and stay on track. Being consistent with each other and on the same page will make the difference in success.

They have created a score card with scales to rate where you are at, evaluate where would you like to be as well as provide feedback. There are 8 different areas with description breakdown.

Vision Alignment

Staying in Sync

Commitment to Samp Page Meeting

Open/Honest Communication

Mutual Respect

Role Clarity

Agreement on 90-Day Priorities

Engagement with the Leadership Team

This is a great exercise to go through individually then at the next Same Page meeting see where the ratings are different and get to be back on the same page working for each other's needs. There are real steps that the integrators and visionaries can take to make sure the company has the power of growth and driving in the same direction. Bounce ideas off your integrator to figure out what will work and what would be a challenge in comparison to the vision. Use the partnership to your advantage to go further together, for two are stronger than one. Let us know how understanding the partnership helped benefit your team and company.

Wake Up Wednesday- Rocket Fuel - Week 3

by James & Amy Lombardi

Last week we focused on the visionary. This week is for the integrators. Having a strong relationship between the visionary and the integrator is critical. The integrator is the one that sets the dreams into motion. They work harmoniously with the visionary to control the major functions of a business. Integrators keep the trains running on time and on the tracks. Integrators are the steady force of accountability and alignment. Every visionary needs an integrator to be their right hand. Finding that person could be the hardest point.

Integrator Job Description:

1. Faithfully executes business plans and exceeds P&L objectives

2. Leads, manages and holds leadership team accountable for agreed upon commitments

3. Integrates all major operating functions of the business and ensures everyone is working towards the same goals

4. Resolves issues, without conflict, ensuring everyone is functional and cohesive

5. Ensures everyone is operating the company processes consistently and has good project management skills

6. Demonstrates company values

7. Collaborate with visionary and stays on the same page with mutual respect

8. Confirm all key messages are properly disturbed across the company with effective communication

One of the major keys to remaining on the same page with the same goals in mind, showing respect for one another. The books suggested having a “Same Page” meeting at least once a month. Make it 2-4 hours, outside of the office environment. Asking questions like, how are you doing? What’s your state of mind? What sort of personal and business challenges are you having? During this meeting, you should expose a list of issues and concerns or areas of disconnects. Identify and discuss the issues and figure out a solution to remain on the same page and keep the company strong.

Wake Up Wednesday- Rocket Fuel - Week 2

by James & Amy Lombardi

It takes two types of people behind a company to become successful; a visionary and an integrator. Visionaries key to a successful business. True visionaries only count for 3% of the population. In order to stay on track, you need an integrator to support you and compliment your strengths. The top organizations needed both key people to create what they are today. Alone you can not do it all.

Visionaries are typically entrepreneurs. Almost all the time visionaries are owners and CEOs. They are the problem solvers and the creator. They know how to inspire and pass on the touch. A lot of time the same day-to-day tasks trap visionaries from achieving where they want to go. They can no do it all.

Visionary have the passion and backbone to the company. They are the vision casters and dream up the possibilities of where to go. They create the energy and big picture. They are the ones that create the ideas, not all good but they have ideas. They are the problem solvers and figure out different ways of completing tasks.

Visionaries are not so good at focusing in on the little details or implementing systems. One of the hardest parts might be for the leadership to let go of some tasks. It requires full trust in the integrator to fulfill the plans. Integrators communicate to seek out information, not directions, but ideas then add the details to implement the dream.

Both the visionaries and the integrators must be crystal clear on the mission and on the same page. Are you a visionary? Do you know your role? Who is your integrator?
